According to reports, on Thursday (23 July) student protests in Jehanabad against the NEET exam paper leak turned violent. Large numbers of students took to the streets and protested near the railway tracks and the District Magistrate’s residence near Kanaudi on the Patna-Gaya railway line. A confrontation erupted between the police and protesters.
• Following the incident, security has been tightened across the city. Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas, and the administration is continuously monitoring the situation. The administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and ignore any rumors. Officials say the entire matter is being investigated and necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order.
• Protests to continue in Bihar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In Patna, the student organisation All India Students’ Association (AISA) will stage protests. During this time, the effigy of Dharmendra Pradhan will also be burnt.
• The student organization AISA has announced a Bihar bandh on Saturday (25 July).
• The organisation has appealed to the students and citizens of Bihar to participate in the Bihar Bandh on Saturday (25 July). Moreover, on Friday (24 July) Resistance Day will be observed.
