As per reports, an armed suspect lunged at Democratic candidate for Ohio governor Amy Acton during a campaign stop at the Canfield Fair in Canfield, Ohio, at around 1430 hours local time (1830 hours UTC) on Sunday (06 September).
• The incident occurred at the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent, where the suspect allegedly pushed through the crowd towards Acton, knocking volunteers and two older attendees to the ground and injuring several people. Acton was not injured.
• The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Patrick Havas, was stopped by Acton’s security detail and subsequently arrested by law enforcement. Authorities reported that he was carrying two pistols and brass knuckles, although the weapons were not used during the incident.
• Havas is being held at the Mahoning County Jail and faces two counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of disorderly conduct. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
