As per reports, the University of Western Australia (UWA) confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to password information for thousands of staff, students, and visitors, as of Monday (11 August).
• Following detection of the breach, the university locked all affected accounts and initiated a mass password reset.
• UWA reported no evidence that any other personal or sensitive data was accessed, and stated that the incident did not appear to involve ransomware.
• A critical incident management team was activated, with IT teams working continuously to restore access and provide support to those affected.
