As per reports, traffic flow on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan in Central Jakarta was disrupted on Wednesday morning (02 July) due to a protest demonstration by truck drivers.
• The protest is being held near the Horse Statue roundabout (Patung Kuda) in opposition to the zero overdimension-overload (ODOL) enforcement policy. The demonstration began around 1000 hours local time, with trucks seen parked along the road in the direction of Gambir.
• Heavy traffic congestion was reported from Jalan Merdeka Utara, starting near the Monas gate close to the State Palace, extending up to Bundaran HI and towards Jalan MH Thamrin, where the Coordinating Ministry of Infrastructure office is located identified as the convoy’s intended destination.
• Police personnel and Satpol PP were deployed to manage the situation and secure the demonstration area. Vehicles were observed queuing as traffic delays intensified in central government zones and near critical landmarks such as Monas and the State Palace.
