Tribal forums call for a statewide shutdown on 04 June

As per reports, the Tribal communities in Jharkhand have declared a statewide 18 hour bandh (shutdown) scheduled for 04 June. This action is in protest against the construction of a flyover ramp near the Kendriya Sarna Sthal in Siromtoli, Ranchi.

Multiple tribal organizations have united under the banner of Adivasi Bachao Morcha to lead the protest. The coalition aims to address concerns regarding the flyover ramp’s construction and its impact on tribal religious sites.

• The matter is currently under review by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) and they have ordered a temporary halt to the construction work at the site.
