According to reports, all three lanes of State Route 08 will be shifted onto the new southbound bridge in Akron, and three ramps will remain closed from Monday (01 December) until November 2027 while crews demolish the existing bridge and construct a new northbound structure.

• The closures will include the Route 08 northbound ramp to Glenwood Avenue, the Perkins Street ramp to Route 08 northbound, and the Route 08 southbound ramp to Buchtel Avenue.
• To navigate the closures, Ohio Department of Transportation has established detours directing Route 8 northbound traffic to Glenwood Avenue via Tallmadge Avenue and Home Avenue; Perkins Street traffic to Route 8 northbound via Goodkirk Street, Buchtel Avenue, and Fountain Street; and Route 8 southbound traffic to Buchtel Avenue via Perkins Street and Goodkirk Street.
