Train-van collision reported in Murshidabad on Friday (17 July)

As per reports, the Nimtita-Katwa local train collided with a school van and a cyclist in Berhampore, Murshidabad on Friday (17 July). This accident happened around 0700 hours IST when the van was crossing the rail lines which were open at Karna Subarna station.

Three casualties have been reported so far. Two of them were students. The other injured students have been admitted to Murshidabad Medical College Hospital. A 10-member investigation team, led by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), is investigating the Murshidabad train accident. Two railway workers, a gateman and a supervisor have been suspended for negligence at work. The railways has clarified that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
