As per reports, a Rajdhani Express train collided with a herd of elephants in Hojai district of Assam on Saturday (20 December). Five coaches and the engine of the Sairang-New Delhi train derailed. No passengers were injured. However, eight elephants were killed and one elephant was injured.
Train services on the Jamunamukh Kampur section have been disrupted. Trains scheduled to pass through the stretch have been diverted via the UP line. Restoration and clearance work remains underway.
