As per reports, Meerut Police has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Kanwar Yatra 2026, introducing phased traffic restrictions from Wednesday (29 July) to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and maintain public safety. Details are as follows:

• From the night of Wednesday (29 July), the movement of heavy vehicles will be prohibited on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway (NH-58/NH-334), the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (between Ghaziabad and Meerut) and the Chaudhary Charan Singh Kanwar Marg.
• Authorities have stated that traffic restrictions may be further intensified between Wednesday (05 August) and Wednesday (12 August), including the complete closure of sections of the Delhi-Dehradun Highway along the Haridwar-Muzaffarnagar-Meerut corridor if required.
• Additionally, from midnight on Sunday (02 August), light and medium vehicles on NH-58 between Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Haridwar will operate in both directions on the left lane, while the right lane will be reserved exclusively for returning Kanwariyas.
• Police have also announced multiple diversion routes for vehicles travelling between Delhi, NCR, Meerut and Uttarakhand, including diversions via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Khekra Interchange, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, NH-44, Saharanpur Bypass, NH-9 and Hapur Road.
• The Kanwar Yatra will continue along its traditional route, with no pilgrim movement permitted on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway or the Ganga Expressway, while authorities have indicated that traffic arrangements may be revised depending on pilgrim turnout and security requirements.
