As per reports, the Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for Saturday and Sunday (08-09 November) in view of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Flypast scheduled to take place at Lachit Ghat in Panbazar. Following are the details:
• Rehearsals are scheduled to take place on Thursday and Saturday (06 and 08 November), while the main program is scheduled on Sunday (09 November). However, traffic arrangements will be in place only on Saturday and Sunday (08-09 November), on which days, large gatherings and VIP movements are expected.
• Temporary restrictions and diversions on several major routes will be in place between 0700-1700 hours (IST) on both days.
• Movement of commercial goods vehicles and other heavy vehicles will not be permitted on HB Road, AT Road, DG Road, MG Road, Bishnu Rabha Baruah Road and GNB Road during the restricted hours. Slow-moving vehicles such as handcarts, rickshaws and e-rickshaws will also not be allowed to operate between Machkhowa point and the Chief Justice Bungalow point on MG Road.
• Additionally, only vehicles with valid passes issued by the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be allowed to use the stretch between Machkhowa and the Chief Justice Bungalow point from 1100-1700 hours (IST).
• City buses travelling from Khanapara towards Bharalumukh will be diverted through GS Road and AT Road and will not be allowed to enter Panbazar via the Panbazar railway overbridge (ROB). Heavy vehicles, including Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) inter-district buses and rural service buses, will not be allowed into the city and will be diverted through National Highway (NH)-27 at Jalukbari.
• Diversions will also be in place for vehicles approaching Panbazar and Chandmari from Bharalumukh, with routes redirected from Machkhowa via the elevated corridor towards HB Road or AT Road.
• Vehicles coming from Chandmari towards Panbazar, Bharalumukh or Jalukbari will be diverted at the District Library Point via AT Road. Light vehicles travelling from Uzanbazar or Latasil towards Bharalumukh will be routed through Planetarium Point, Lamb Road, FC Road, Tayebulla Point, GNB Road and District Library before rejoining the designated route near the Sessions Court.
• Parking will only be permitted for vehicles carrying Red, Blue or Yellow passes issued by the Indian Air Force (IAF). No parking without permits will be allowed on MG Road, FA Road, BRP Road, MLN Road, ARB Road, HB Road and TRP Road. Trucks and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to park along TRP Road, Lakhi Gali, Chamber Road, SRCB Road, SS Road, Kedar Road, and MS Road during the restriction period.
• An official notice is awaited.
