As per reports, the municipal transit agency GoRaleigh has announced the temporary suspension for 18 months of the R-Line Downtown Circulator bus route starting from 09 August.

• The transit agency is scheduled to pause the service due to sustained low ridership trends across the downtown network.
• According to an official memo from the Raleigh city manager’s office, monthly trips on the route have decreased to an average of 5,000, representing a 50 percent decline compared to pre-pandemic operational baseline numbers.
• Alternative micromobility alternatives, including scooter and bikeshare services, have expanded to account for approximately 30,000 trips per month within the urban core.
• The scheduled service suspension is anticipated to last for a duration of up to 18 months while municipal staff conduct an exhaustive evaluation of downtown mobility requirements
