As per reports, a 2.5-kilometre Taaruf Parade (cultural-religious procession) will be held in Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday (12 September) from 0700 hours (local time) as part of the 31st National Qur’an Recitation Competition (MTQ) 2026.
• The parade will start from Semarang City Hall, proceed along Jalan Pemuda to Tugu Muda, continue through Jalan Pandanaran and Jalan Tri Lomba Juang, cross Taman Indonesia Kaya, and conclude at the Honorary Stage at the Central Java Governor’s Office on Jalan Pahlawan.
• More than 1,000 participants from 38 provincial contingents across Indonesia, as well as regencies and cities across Central Java, are expected to participate.
• The front of the procession will feature the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) walking alongside the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibra), carrying the Red and White flag and the flag of the Qur’an Recitation Development Institute (LPTQ). They will be followed by a drum band and the National MTQ mascot.
