According to reports, sugarcane farmers in Goa staged a protest on Tuesday (02 January), urging the reopening of a sugar factory that ceased operations in 2020. The President of the ‘Goa Us Utpadan Sanghatana’ (Sugarcane Producers Association), Rajendra Desai, stated that the government has not fulfilled its commitment to restarting the sugar factory.
