As per reports, the following are the latest updates pertaining to the coaching center flood incident as of Thursday (08 August):
• Students and government services aspirants continued their protest at Rajinder Nagar, which entered its 10th day on Wednesday (07 August). Students continued their daily sit-in protest near Rau’s IAS Circle, close to the site of the accident. They alleged that civic and other authorities have been slow and inadequate in taking follow up action and giving compensation to the affected students.
• Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into the flooding incident on Wednesday (07 August), with a special forensic team visiting the flood site. This comes two weeks after the Delhi High Court had directed the apex central agency to take over the case.
• Additionally, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed the basements of 10 more coaching centres and libraries in the Shahdara, Karol Bagh, and Najafgarh Zones for violating building bylaws.
