As per reports, on Monday (04 May), students from various organisations, including those under the Cipayung Plus alliance, held demonstrations in Jakarta to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas), which officially fell on Saturday (02 May). The protests were centered on three major locations: the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) in Senayan, the DPR/MPR RI building, and the area around the Horse Statue (Patung Kuda) near the State Palace.

The demonstrations caused significant traffic disruptions from the morning to the late afternoon hours, particularly in the Senayan area. Specifically, Jalan Pintu Satu Senayan leading toward Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) was closed due to the presence of student command vehicles and mass gatherings. While traffic from Jalan Asia Afrika toward Jalan Jenderal Sudirman remained normal, significant congestion occurred on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman toward Bendungan Hilir as drivers were forced to turn back.
