Statewide speed enforcement campaign announced across New York from Monday (03 August) to 09 August

As per reports, the New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies are scheduled to conduct increased patrols across New York, the US, from Monday (03 August) to 09 August. Specific enforcement hours have not been announced.

• Reports indicate that the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee-sponsored Speed Week 02 campaign is expected to target speeding, reckless driving, distracted driving and impaired driving on state and local roads.
• Enforcement may include marked and unmarked patrol vehicles, roadside traffic stops and increased police presence along major highways and high-risk corridors.
• Authorities issued 56,578 traffic tickets during the previous enforcement campaign from 08 June to 14 June, including 14,005 speeding tickets, 2,220 distracted-driving tickets and 1,386 impaired-driving tickets.
• Nassau and Suffolk counties recorded the highest ticket volumes during the previous campaign, with 6,158 and 5,367 tickets, respectively.
