As per reports, a state of local emergency has been declared in the Lower North Thompson due to flood risks posed by an collapse-prone illegal dam, on Thursday (09 October).

• At the time of the reporting, more than a dozen properties remain on evacuation alert.
• An engineering assessment conducted on Wednesday (08 October) found blocked culverts in the dam, causing the lake level to rise, heightening failure risk and potential uncontrolled water release into Fadear Creek.
