As per reports, US Highway 82 remained closed on Tuesday (21 May) morning from mile marker 17 to mile marker 21 as a result of a wildfire near Cloudcroft, New Mexico reported on Monday (20 May). Travelers were advised to use New Mexico State Road 244 as an alternate route.
• The Moser Fire remained zero percent contained as of Tuesday (21 May) morning. However, containment lines built around approximately 80 percent of the fire on Monday (20 May) held overnight.
• The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast elevated fire weather conditions for southwest and south-central New Mexico, including the Gila Region and the Sacramento Mountains, as well as far west Texas from 1300 to 2000 hours local time on Thursday (23 May). With relative humidity between three to 10 percent and west to southwest winds at 15 to 20 mph, there is likely going to be an increased risk of wildfires.
