As per reports, authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento County, California, which prompted significant traffic disruption along eastbound Highway 50 on Tuesday (08 September).
• Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Howe Avenue at approximately 1500 hours local time (2200 hours UTC) and found an unresponsive individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
• Deputies subsequently conducted a possibly related vehicle stop on eastbound Highway 50 between Howe Avenue and Watt Avenue as part of the investigation. The suspect in the fatal shooting remained at large at the time of reporting.
• As of approximately 1614 hours local time (2314 hours UTC), one eastbound lane of Highway 50 had reopened, while all other eastbound lanes remained closed.
• The California Highway Patrol had not provided an estimated time for full reopening. Motorists were advised to use Interstate 80 (I-80) or exit at Howe Avenue and travel via Folsom Boulevard to Watt Avenue as alternative routes.
