As per reports, multiple security incidents were recorded across Paris during Fête de la Musique celebrations held overnight between Sunday (21 June) and Monday (22 June).
According to the Paris Territorial Directorate of Proximity Security (DTSP75), law enforcement authorities conducted 154 arrests across the capital. Arrests were primarily linked to theft, sexual assault, intentional violence, and drug possession offences.
• A number of public safety incidents were reported during the celebrations. On Boulevard Saint-Germain, mortar fire reportedly caused a crowd surge, which was subsequently brought under control by responding police officers.
• In the 3rd arrondissement, a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Authorities stated that the driver fled the scene before being apprehended. A separate incident in the same arrondissement involved a vehicle that reportedly accelerated abruptly and struck a pedestrian, causing a leg injury.
• Authorities also recorded approximately ten suspected needle stick incidents during the celebrations. A serious criminal incident was also reported on Rue Henri Monnier in the 9th arrondissement, where a woman was reportedly subjected to a needle stick attack and subsequently sexually assaulted. Authorities confirmed that a suspect was arrested in connection with the case.
• In a separate incident on Boulevard de la Madeleine, an individual reportedly lost consciousness following a suspected needle stick incident and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
• Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the course of the evening. Authorities stated that the incidents remained largely confined to Paris, with only limited arrests reported in surrounding suburban areas.
