As per reports, a section of the roof structure attached to a pedestrian bridge collapsed at Terminal 01 of Mexico City International Airport (AICM) on Tuesday (02 June), affecting a vehicle traveling on Capitán Carlos León Avenue.
According to airport authorities, the incident occurred when a metal roof section detached from a pedestrian bridge connecting the airport parking area to Terminal 01 and fell onto the roadway below.
• The structure struck a private vehicle traveling through the area, causing material damage. Airport medical personnel responded to the scene and provided assistance to the affected motorist.
• According to preliminary information from emergency responders, the driver sustained minor injuries from the incident.
• Following the incident, emergency response personnel, including members of the Mexico City Fire Department and officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), were deployed to the affected area.
• Authorities established a security perimeter around the site to facilitate debris-removal operations and secure the remaining structure. Maintenance crews were subsequently deployed to remove collapsed materials from the roadway and restore normal access conditions.
• Airport authorities stated that a technical investigation is to be conducted to determine the cause of the structural failure and establish any corresponding responsibilities.
