As per reports, relatives of four State of Mexico residents who disappeared in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, on 26 February are protesting along the Mexico-Toluca Highway (Carretera México-Toluca) near the entrance to Mexico City on Wednesday (02 September).
• The demonstrators are demanding information regarding the whereabouts of their missing relatives and increased action by authorities.
• Protesters have reportedly raised toll barriers, allowing motorists to pass without paying tolls. According to participants, similar actions have been underway at the El Dorado toll plaza for approximately 15 days and at the Atlacomulco toll plaza for around one week, with the demonstration reaching the Mexico City approach on Wednesday (02 September).
• The protesters are carrying banners displaying images of the missing individuals and are calling on President Claudia Sheinbaum and federal security authorities to provide information on the search. The duration of the current protest has not been specified.
