As per reports, a Flydubai flight from Dubai International Airport (DXB), Dubai, UAE, to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV), Tel Aviv, Israel, was diverted to Saudi Arabia after an emergency signal transmitted by the aircraft prompted initial concerns of possible unlawful interference on Wednesday (30 September).
• The aircraft, carrying 174 passengers, including 27 children, subsequently landed safely at Tabuk Regional Airport (TUU), Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
• The aircraft reportedly transmitted emergency code 7700 before subsequently transmitting code 7500, which indicates unlawful interference, while flying towards Israel.
• Israeli authorities initially treated the incident as a potential hijacking and scrambled fighter jets to respond to the aircraft.
• Flydubai later confirmed that the emergency signal was triggered by a physical altercation between the pilots in the cockpit, with authorities subsequently ruling out a hijacking.
