As per reports, on Tuesday (18 March), a fire incident was reported near Chopaka Bridge, prompting a response from the Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB), Keremeos Fire-Rescue, BC Wildfire Service, and AIM Roads.
• The fire was initially reported around 1630 hours (local time), and fire crews from multiple agencies were dispatched to contain the fire.
• By 1709 hours (local time), Keremeos Fire-Rescue reported the fire had been contained, with crews patrolling for any remaining hot spots.
• Authorities advised the public to stay clear of the affected area to allow emergency personnel to effectively address the incident.
• The fire was recorded on the BC Wildfire Service map, with the incident estimated to cover 0.009 hectares in size.
• Although the fire has been contained, smoke may still be visible from Highway three and surrounding properties. However, no further concerns were raised regarding the fire.
