As per reports, a major third alarm fire affected multiple buildings along South Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut, during the evening of Thursday (09 July).
• The fire reportedly spread across approximately one third to one half of a city block, including the building housing La Borinqueña Restaurant, before firefighters contained the main body of the blaze and prevented further spread to surrounding structures.
• Two firefighters were transported to hospital, although their conditions were not immediately confirmed.
• Approximately 220 to 250 Eversource customers experienced power outages in the surrounding area.
• A large smoke plume was visible from Interstate 84 East.
• Fire crews remained at the scene to extinguish residual hotspots, assess structural damage and determine the origin and cause of the fire.
