As per reports, a fire incident was reported on the evening of Monday (07 April), at the Syctom waste sorting center located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.The fire started around 2000 hours (local time) in the basement area handling journals, newspapers, and magazines, which contained highly combustible material.

• The facility, spanning approximately 12,000 square meters, sustained extensive structural damage, including a complete collapse of its roof.
• Over 200 firefighters and at least 60 fire trucks were deployed to the site; operations continued until the fire was contained just before 0000 hours (local time) on Tuesday (08 April).
• No casualties were reported, and all 31 employees present were safely evacuated.
• The Paris fire brigade temporarily closed a section of the Boulevard Périphérique (main ring road) to facilitate emergency response.
• Local residents, particularly those between Avenue de Clichy, Boulevard Périphérique, Rue de Saussure, and Rue Cardinet, were advised to stay indoors and keep windows closed due to thick smoke.
• A large black smoke plume was visible across several parts of northern Paris and nearby suburbs. rephrase it in more formal and professional language.
• The fire occurred near Paris’s main court complex, raising concerns of potential damage to adjacent structures, though no spread was reported.
• The exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation. Authorities have reported no detection of toxic fumes.
