As per reports, an imam (leader of a mosque) was shot near the intersection of Camden Street and South Orange Avenue in Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday (03 January) morning.

• First responders transported the imam to University Hospital in critical condition. Subsequently, law enforcement gathered outside the entrance of Masjid Muhammad mosque.
• No additional information regarding the suspect or motive in the shooting has been disclosed at this time. Authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
