As per reports, section 144 of CrPC will be imposed in Puducherry from 1800 hours on Wednesday (17 April) until 0600 hours on Saturday (20 April) as the election campaign ends at 1800 hours on Wednesday (17 April) and polls in the Union Territory will be held in a single phase on Friday (19 April). 72 flying squads have been formed to prevent illegal campaigning.

Further, as per the Election Commission, the use of mobile phones or microphones within 100 meters of polling booths on Friday (19 April) will be prohibited. However, government officials, officers and employees engaged in the enforcement of law and order, election activities and maintenance of essential services will be exempted.
