As per reports, Intermunicipal System of Potable Water and Sewerage Services announced a planned water supply interruption affecting multiple areas of Zapopan beginning on Friday (22 May) due to scheduled electrical works associated with the Federal Electricity Commission and the Zapopan municipal government.
• According to the utility authority, operations at the Belenes Macrotank facility will be temporarily suspended starting at approximately 0800 hours local time (1400 hours UTC) on Friday (22 May).
• The interruption is linked to a planned electrical shutdown required to support infrastructure works in the area.
• The interruption is expected to directly affect pumping and water distribution operations across 74 neighborhoods in Zapopan. Some districts are expected to experience low water pressure, while others may face complete temporary service suspension depending on elevation, storage levels, and distribution network positioning.
• Affected neighborhoods include Puerta de Hierro, Zapopan Centro, Jardines Universidad, Seattle, Tepeyac, La Cima, San Wenceslao, Zoquipan, Valle Real, Altamira, Colinas de San Isidro, Villas de Zapopan, Mirador de San Isidro, Real de Valdepeñas, La Vista Residencial, and Praderas del Centinela, in addition to residential developments near Periférico Norte and the Belenes area.
• Intermunicipal System of Potable Water and Sewerage Services stated that restoration of the water system may take up to 24 hours after electrical works are completed because reservoir recovery and pressure stabilization processes must occur gradually throughout the network. Full normalization of water services is therefore expected during the afternoon of Saturday (23 May).
• Authorities advised residents to store sufficient water in advance for essential domestic use, including drinking, hygiene, cooking, and sanitation purposes during the interruption period.
• The utility authority also confirmed that free emergency water truck deliveries may be requested through the SIAPATEL service line by dialing 073.
