As per reports, the Romería de la Virgen de la Fuensanta, the traditional return pilgrimage of the patron saint of Murcia to her sanctuary, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday (15 September), marking the conclusion of the Feria de Murcia 2026.
• The event will commence at 0700 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) with a farewell Mass at Murcia Cathedral, from which the image of the Virgen de la Fuensanta will depart and be accompanied by pilgrims on foot along a route of approximately six kilometres to the Sanctuary of La Fuensanta in the district of Algezares.
• Road closures will be implemented progressively from 0700 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) on Tuesday (15 September) along principal routes, including Gran Vía, Plaza Martínez Tornel, Puente Viejo, Alameda de Colón and Calle Hermanos Cerón.
• Additional closures will follow progressively along the full pilgrimage route.
• A special security and public order deployment of more than 460 personnel, including Local Police, Civil Protection and emergency services, will be in place throughout the event.
• All municipal public transport, including buses, tram and tranvibús, will operate free of charge throughout the full day on Tuesday (15 September).
• Continuous shuttle services will operate from Calle Floridablanca in central Murcia to the Algezares Sanctuary area from 0700 hours local time (0500 hours UTC).
• Services from the city centre to ten outlying districts, La Alberca, El Palmar, Sangonera la Verde, Los Garres, San José de la Vega, Beniaján, El Secano, Torreagüera, Los Ramos and Zeneta, will be activated following the arrival of the image at the Sanctuary.
• First departures from outlying districts to the city centre are scheduled from 0600 hours local time (0400 hours UTC) to allow participants to reach the Cathedral prior to the start of proceedings.
