As per reports, PennDOT announced a continuous closure of Commercial Street/Forward Avenue between Whipple Street and Summerset Drive starting Monday (17 November).

• The closure is expected to remain in effect through the end of January 2026.
• The closure supports the Parkway East Commercial Street Bridge replacement project.
• Work involves accelerated bridge construction; the new span will be laterally slid onto the existing I-376 alignment next year.
• PennDOT detours for the 17 November closure: From Commercial Street (Swisshelm Park side): Whipple St – left Monongahela Ave – left S Braddock Ave – left Forbes Ave – left Beechwood Blvd – Forward Ave (End).
• Additional traffic management this year includes: nine overnight full closures and detours of the Parkway East, one full weekend closure, detour lanes in each direction, and 35 extended weeknight single-lane restrictions eastbound.
