As per reports, a fatal vehicle fire involving two vehicles blocked all northbound lanes of Interstate 5 (I-5) near the Nisqually River Bridge in Thurston County, Washington, on Thursday (10 September) at approximately 1730 hours local time (0030 hours UTC on 11 September).
• The Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirmed that a mechanical mishap occurred involving two vehicles near milepost 110 on northbound I-5, in the vicinity of the Nisqually River Bridge.
• One of the vehicles involved caught fire as a result of the incident. At least one fatality has been confirmed by the Washington State Patrol.
• All northbound I-5 traffic is being diverted at Nisqually exit 114. Drivers are being advised by the Washington State Patrol to seek alternate routes and to expect significant delays in the area.
• The incident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol. No further details on the identity of the deceased or the circumstances of the mechanical mishap have been confirmed as of 1900 hours local time (0200 hours UTC on 11 September) on Thursday (10 September).
