As per reports, electricty demand has surged in Northern Vietnam by more than 28 percent, pushing the region’s power system close to its operating limit. Industry and Trade Minister Le Manh Hung stated in government’s monthly meeting on Wednesday (03 June) that the peak demand in northern Vietnam had reached 30.5 gigawatts, compared with a maximum supply capacity of about 31 gigawatts.
The increase has raised concerns over power supply during the remainder of the year as economic growth accelerates, industrial production expands and unpredictable weather conditions remain. The ministry stated that it was implementing measures on both the supply and demand sides to maintain the stability of the national power system. The ministry has also directed government agencies, local authorities and large power consumers to support efforts to manage demand during periods of high consumption.
