As per reports, Syrian Airlines officially announced on Thursday (17 April) the resumption of direct flights between Syria and the UAE, commencing Sunday (20 April), as part of an exceptional first phase.

• The announcement follows the first official visit of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa to the UAE since taking office, indicating potential political and diplomatic normalization between Damascus and Abu Dhabi.
• According to an official statement released on Syrian Airlines’ Facebook page, four weekly flights will initially operate between Damascus and Dubai, scheduled for Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There are plans to increase this frequency to seven flights per week in the near term, suggesting a strong intent to fully restore air traffic capacity between the two cities.
• Additionally, flights to Sharjah will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, with similar ambitions to transition to daily service. Furthermore, Damascus–Abu Dhabi flights are scheduled for operation on Tuesdays and Fridays.
