The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall forecast for parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (22 August).

• Yellow alert for rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning has been issued for Ramban, Raesi, Jammu, Udhampur, Sambha and Kathua for Thursday (22 August).
• Local authorities have issued warning for flood, landslide along with lightning. People have been asked to stay away from unsafe places, rivers, drains especially Tawi, Chenab and other water sources.
• In the last 24 hours, 6.4 millimetres (mm) of rainfall was recorded in Jammu, 16.2 mm in Bhaderwah, 5.6 mm in Banihal, 4.8 mm in Katra.
