Punjab Roadways contractual go on strike on Tuesday (12 March); demonstration announced on Wednesday (13 March)

As per reports, contractual employees of the Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC, also known as Punjab Roadways or Punbus), under the banner of the PRTC Contract Worker Union will commence a strike from Tuesday (12 March) afternoon onwards. The strike has been called to press for the union’s demands of regularisation of contractual workers and increment in wages.

On Monday (11 March), the contractual employees organised rally at the Patti bus depot, the native town of State Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar, in Tarn Taran District. The union announced that they will stop plying buses from the afternoon of Tuesday (12 March) till Wednesday (13 March). They have also announced a march from Mohali to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh on Wednesday (13 March).
