As per reports, Montreal’s public transit system is expected to face significant disruptions following a strike announcement by bus drivers and metro operators. The strike notice was filed on Wednesday (23 October). The planned strike is expected to last three days, from 30 October to 01 November.

As per union statements, the strike could lead to major service interruptions, potentially reducing subway and bus operations to minimal levels. Paratransit services are planned to continue at full capacity.

• The dispute centers on wages, work schedules, and job guarantees. Union leadership has indicated that negotiations are expected to continue, but additional strikes could be planned if no agreement is reached.
• Separately, maintenance workers at STM began a four-week strike on the night of 31 October, extending to 28 November. Their work stoppage is expected to cause disruptions primarily outside peak hours, with morning and late afternoon service maintained at a minimum.
