Public and private school suspend classes in parts of Philippines due to heavy rainfall on Thursday (13 August)

As per reports, six local government units in the provinces of Cavite, Batangas and Rizal suspended face-to-face classes in public and private schools on Thursday (13 August), due to heavy rainsfall brought by the southwest monsoon.

• In Cavite, Cavite City Mayor Denver Chua and Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla announced class suspensions at all levels in their respective localities.
• In Rizal province, Taytay Mayor Allan de Leon ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, school personnel and their families.
• Meanwhile, the Batangas provincial government’s Public Information Office said the municipalities of Balayan and Calatagan have also suspended face-to-face classes and would shift to online learning.
