As per reports, widespread protests were reported across Homs, Tartus, Latakia and Hama on Tuesday (25 November), involving significant participation from the Alawite community.
• Demonstrations occurred at over 40 sites, including Tartus city and countryside, Banias, Latakia and nearby areas, Jableh, Qardaha and rural parts of Homs and Hama, following a call by Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal.
• Participants raised demands related to decentralisation, release of detainees and concerns regarding administrative practices.
• In Homs, gatherings were reported in the Al-Zahraa neighbourhood following recent vandalism incidents targeting Alawite-owned property.
• In Latakia, two rival protest groups gathered at Agriculture Square and another town square. As per reports, security forces used gunfire in the air to disperse the groups. Unknown assailants also reportedly fired at civilians and security personnel.
• The demonstrations took place one day after clashes occurred between security forces and an outlaw group in Al-Badrousiya village, Latakia, and after an extension of a curfew in select Homs neighbourhoods until 1700 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) on Monday (24 November).
