As per reports, a peaceful protest titled ‘Sit-in for Democratic Justice’ is scheduled at Plaza de la Democracia José Figueres Ferrer from 1600 hours local time (2200 hours UTC) to 2000 hours local time (0000 hours UTC on 07 August) on Thursday (06 August). The demonstration has been organised in support of judicial independence, the rule of law and public institutions.

• Reports indicate that the mobilisation has been organised by the Autonomous Collective for Social Resistance and the Communication and Logistics Commission of the Decentralized Organization for the Defense of ICE.
• Reportedly, the National Council of Rectors (CONARE) has authorised the participation of university officials and students, while the University of Costa Rica (UCR) has stated that staff participation should not affect essential university services.
• Reportedly, various social organisations, university groups, political figures and members of the public are expected to participate.
