As per reports, the climate movement ‘Fridays for Future’ has announced a demonstration in Mannheim as part of a series of statewide climate protests across Baden-Württemberg on 27 February.

The organisers are calling for increased investment in climate protection measures and renewable energy, with the protest taking place in the context of upcoming state and local elections in southern Germany.

• The demonstration in Mannheim is scheduled to begin at 1630 hours local time (1530 hours UTC) in the courtyard of the University of Mannheim and is expected to conclude around 1800 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) at the Old Fairgrounds.
• The protest is expected to involve a march between these locations, which may affect traffic and pedestrian movement in central areas of the city during the event window.
