As per reports, political parties, non-political organisations and village communities have announced that they will stage a hunger strike protest in front of the Public Works Department (PWD) office in Bhavanisagar on Monday (24 March) to demand steps to prevent pollution of the Bhavani River.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) and its affiliated parties, and residents of the Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Karur districts will participate in the protest.
