As per reports, Taiwan’s Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) called on supporters to participate in a protest at Ketagalan Boulevard (Kaidao) in Taipei, Taiwan, on Saturday (25 July), over the government’s handling of an alleged food oil contamination case.

• Senior KMT and TPP officials, including Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, and Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang, attended a press conference on Friday (24 July) urging public participation.
• Organisers stated that the demonstration would call for greater transparency regarding the investigation into the alleged food oil contamination case and demand accountability from the central government.
• Protest organisers also called for President Lai Ching-te to issue a public apology and for Premier Cho Jung-tai to assume political responsibility over the government’s handling of the matter.
