As per reports, members of the six ethnic communities staged a demonstration in the Dispur Supermarket area of Guwahati on Wednesday (04 September) over the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. The demonstration prompted police to arrive at the scene to assess the situation, leading to the detention of four protesters.
A similar situation was reported at the Biswanath Chariali Clock Tower, where hundreds of protesters from the communities rallied against the government’s lack of response toward their demands.
