As per reports, auto-rickshaw and car taxi drivers are scheduled to stage a protest at the Police Headquarters in Palasia, Indore, on Thursday (01 October) at 1630 hours (local time), demanding stricter regulation of bike taxis and e-rickshaws and submission of a memorandum to senior police officials.
• The Indore Auto Rickshaw Drivers Federation and representatives of the Car Taxi Driver Welfare Committee are expected to participate in the protest.
• Protesters are expected to submit a memorandum to the Indore Police Commissioner and other officials, seeking action against bike taxi operators and riders.
• Organisers have alleged that bike taxis are operating without required police verification and that privately registered two-wheelers are being used for commercial passenger transport.
• Auto-rickshaw operators have also demanded that e-rickshaws operate only within designated zones and that transport regulations be enforced uniformly across passenger transport services.
• Association representatives have warned that further agitation, including a potential chakka jam (road blockade), could be undertaken if their demands are not addressed.
