Risk level: Low Country: India

As per reports, a potential weather system is being monitored over the Bay of Bengal, with a low-pressure area possibly developing over the Andaman region around Saturday (24 October) to Sunday (25 October).

• Reports indicate that the system could intensify into a depression around Tuesday (27 October) and may strengthen further into a cyclonic storm towards the end of October.
• It is also indicated that there is a possible movement towards the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast.
• However, the system has not yet formed, and its eventual intensity, movement and potential landfall area remain uncertain.
• As per the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) outlook, it does not currently indicate cyclogenesis over the Bay of Bengal within its available forecast period, although weather activity over the region continues to be monitored.
• The situation is expected to become clearer as the system, if it develops, moves into the shorter-range forecast period.
