As per reports, the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) reported on Wednesday (08 May) that the electrical rationing would begin on Monday (13 May).
• All distributors have been instructed to commence communication with their subscribers starting this Thursday (09 May), regarding the specifics of affected schedules and circuits, particularly the areas that will experience power outages.
• ICE has restated that high-voltage customers, hospitals, and primary health centers will continue to receive uninterrupted service. Conversely, the industrial sector will experience minimal disruption whenever possible.
• Further details regarding the rationing plan for 2024 will be disclosed during a press conference scheduled for 0900 hours (local time) this Thursday (09 May).
• The Heredia Public Services Company (ESPH) officially announced on its website that electrical rationing is expected to be extended for a duration of three to four weeks. This decision is based on forecasts communicated during an emergency meeting held by ICE on Tuesday (07 May).
