Planned electricity supply interruption in Beacon Valley on Tuesday (21 April)

As per reports, the City of Cape Town’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department has announced a planned 10-hour electricity supply interruption in Beacon Valley, Cape Town, on Tuesday (21 April), as part of critical infrastructure maintenance works aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability of the local electricity supply network.

• The planned outage is expected to be in effect from 0800 hours to 1800 hours local time (0600 hours to 1600 hours UTC) on Tuesday (21 April). The maintenance is expected to proceed as scheduled throughout the day, provided there are no unforeseen delays.
• The interruption is expected to affect areas supplied by multiple substations in the Beacon Valley area, including the Bentley, Trampoline, Cricket, Judo B, and Ludo substations. The City has confirmed that only the areas reflected on official outage maps will experience the supply interruption.
• The City of Cape Town has advised that electricity supply could be restored at any time during the maintenance period and has urged all residents and businesses within the affected area to treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned interruption, regardless of whether power appears to have been restored.
