As per reports, the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Seafarers (PENEN) has officially declared a 24-hour strike impacting ship deployments at the port of Rafina on Friday (03 July).
• The industrial mobilization is scheduled to commence at 0600 hours local time (0300 hours UTC) on Friday morning (03 July), and is scheduled to conclude at 0600 hours local time (0300 hours UTC) on Saturday (04 July).
• The union denounces the structural inadequacy of the port’s existing infrastructure, maintaining that severely limited mooring positions compromise the safety of both vessels and active crews.
• PENEN leadership has also highlighted systemic issues regarding seafarer overwork and fatigue, demanding immediate back-payment of remuneration corresponding to their overtime labor.
• Striking participants have organized a localized demonstration rally scheduled for 1000 hours local time (0700 hours UTC) on Friday morning (03 July) directly outside the ship “Super ferry” within the port zone.
