As per reports, the unions representing dismissed workers from Skaramangas Shipyards and LARCO (General Mining & Metallurgical Company SA) are set to participate in the nationwide strike on Wednesday (09 April), highlighting the disparity between the government’s statements on employment and the reality faced by laid-off workers.
• The protest rally will take place on Wednesday (09 April) at Klafthmonos Square, Athens, at 1100 hours (local time).
• The Skaramangas Shipyard Dismissals Association, TRIAINA, and the LARCO Dismissals Association expressed appreciation for the support shown during their protest. Numerous trade union representatives from Attica, along with various federations, attended the mobilization in solidarity with the affected workers.
• Reports indicate that union representatives met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor, who pledged to forward their demands to the relevant authorities. Additional meetings with the Ministry of Interior are scheduled for further negotiations.
• The Athens Labor Center has confirmed participation in the 24-hour general strike organized by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) on 09 April.
